Emily Eisenhower

February 28, 1912 — April 24, 2011

Emily L. Eisenhower, 99, formerly of Reading, passed away April 24, 2011 in Phoebe Berks Health Care Center. She was the wife of William M. Eisenhower who passed away in 1969. Born in Reading on February 28, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin E. and Anna E. (Homan) Latus.

Emily was a 1930 graduate of Reading High School. She was employed as a supervisor in the Accounting Dept. at CNA Insurance in Reading for 37 years retiring in 1974.

Emily was a long standing member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Perkiomen Ave. She was also a Sunday School Teacher as well as a member of the choir.

Emily enjoyed going out to eat, and she especially liked it when the Dine-Around group from Phoebe Berks went for lunch.

She loved to go shopping, especially when she could take her niece and nephews with her. Emily thoroughly enjoyed the Reading Symphony, traveling, and especially going to New York to see Broadway Shows.

When she was younger, she and her husband would go down to their cabin in Delaware and liked to go fishing. They especially enjoyed it when their nephews could join them.

Emily also did volunteer work for her church as well as several charitable organizations. She really looked forward to the major holidays when she would go to Bob and Sue's house for dinner. She always said how Sue set the prettiest table and they treated her like the "lady" she was. She really enjoyed being with her family on all occasions and babysitting when she could.

She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by 3 nieces and 3 nephews and 8 great nieces and 10 great nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Catherine E. Latus.
