Elmer Wert

Elmer E. “Sonny” Wert, formerly of Laureldale, passed away peacefully Friday, April 23, 2021 in the residence of his daughter Bonita M. Miller.  He was the husband of the late Doris E. (Spangler) Wert who passed away in 2003.  Born in Mohrsville, Mr. Wert was the son of the late Emerson E. and Helen I. (Haas) Wert.  He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of Alsace Lutheran Church.    Mr. Wert began working as a short order cook, then a car salesman.  He retired in 1992 following 32 years of service as a delivery man for former St. Lawrence Dairy in Reading.  After his retirement, he loved organizing things, and going to and having yard sales.  Mr. Wert is survived by his children David E. Wert, husband of Dina G. Wert of Wyomissing; Bonita M. Miller, wife of David S. Miller of New Ringgold and his grandchildren Seth, Joshua, Stephanie, and Andrew.  He is also survived by his sister Dolores J. Younker of Shoemakersville and was preceded in death by his brother Richard D. Wert and his sister Dorothy I. Geschwindt.

Funeral Service will be held in Bean Funeral Home, 1605 Rockland Street, Hampden Heights, Friday, April 30, 2021 at 11:00 am.  Interment will follow at Laureldale Cemetery.  The family will receive relatives and friends in Bean Funeral Home Friday from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Alsace Lutheran Church Social Ministries 2201 Kutztown Road, Reading, PA 19605 in memory of Mr. Elmer E.
