Elizabeth Diane Cigan

Elizabeth Diane (Drake) Cigan, of Spring Township, PA, and formerly of Leetsdale, PA, passed away on September 22, 2023.

Diane was born on June 6, 1933, in Pittsburgh. In the mid-1940’s the Drake family moved to Leetsdale, PA, where Diane met her classmate and future husband, John M. Cigan. Following Diane’s graduation from Leetsdale High School, she studied music at the Indiana State Teachers College and also attended the Robert Morris School of Business.

Diane Drake and John M. Cigan were married on August 18, 1956, in St. James Roman Catholic Church in Sewickley, PA, and continued to reside in their home town of Leetsdale, where they raised four children and were active in the community. In particular, Diane gave many years of service to Troop 243 of the Boy Scouts of America.

Diane and John moved to Spring Township in 1987, where Diane was active in the Women’s Club and a dedicated volunteer with the Missionary Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and with St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church in Sinking Spring.

Diane Cigan was preceded in death by her parents, John W. Drake and Elizabeth Mizerak Drake; her husband, John M. Cigan, Sr.; her brothers John B. Drake and Joseph S. Drake; and her brother-in-law, James Cigan. She is survived by her brother, James R. (Mary Frances) Drake; her sister-in-law, Barbara (James) Cigan; her children, John M. Cigan, Jr., Mary B. Cigan, Eric W. (Diana) Cigan, and Joseph E. (DeeDee) Cigan; her grandchildren, Rebecca (Ian) Turk, Alexander Cigan, Jason Cigan, Carter Cigan, and Cole Cigan; and her great-grandchildren, Moshe Avraham Turk and Chana Rina Turk.

Funeral Procession will depart Bean Funeral Home, 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring, Friday, September 29, 2023 at 9:15 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, 2600 St. Albans Drive, Sinking Spring at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends at Bean Funeral Home Friday from 8:15 am to 9:15 am. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Saint Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, 2810 St. Albans Drive, Sinking Spring, PA 19608 in memory of Mrs. Elizabeth Diane Cigan.
