Effie Doukas

Effie L. Doukas, 86, of Reading, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at 9:45 pm in her home. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late George P. and Melpomene (Dalekos) Doukas. Ms. Doukas was a 1948 graduate of Reading High School and was a member of Saint Matthew's Greek Orthodox Church and Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church where she sang in both choirs for 51 years, taught Sunday School at Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church for 5 years and was a member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society at both Churches along with being a member of Daughters of Penelope. She was employed as a seamstress at Berkshire Knitting Mills and Camp Hosiery retiring in 1993. Ms. Doukas is survived by her God Children Marina (Dikos) Good and William Good of Wayne and Chris Dikos, husband of Valerie Dikos of Wyomissing and her Koumbara Cornilia Dikos also of Reading. She is also survived by her cousins, Christine Georgakis of Chicago and George Malle of Downingtown. Ms. Doukas was preceded in death by her sister Mary Doukas January 25, 2013.
Funeral Service will be held in Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 1001 East Wyomissing Blvd., Reading, PA 19611, Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 11:00 am. Reverend Thomas L. Pappalas and Reverend Demetrius Nicoloudakis will officiate. Interment will follow in Charles Evans Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends in Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church Tuesday from 10:00-11:00 am. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to either Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church at the above address; Saint Matthew's Greek Orthodox Church 8477 Allentown Pike, Blandon, PA 19510 or American Cancer Society, 498 Bellevue Ave. Reading, PA 19605 in memory of Ms. Effie L.
