Edward Zawislak

Edward J. Zawislak, 92, of Reading, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 3:40 pm in Mifflin Center. He was the husband of Josephine M. (Orrs) Zawislak. Born in Reading, Mr. Zawislak was the son of the late John and Frances (Cebula) Zawislak. He was a member of Saint John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church in Shillington and served in the Army Air Corp as a Corporal during World War II serving in Saipan. He received the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign medal, World War II Victory Medal, and the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Stars. Mr. Zawislak was a heel trimmer at Fein & Glass in Reading for 20 years then as an inspector at Rockwell International for 28 years. He was an active member at Saint Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church for more than 60 years; coached CYO Baseball; was a member of the Holy Name Society and Catholic Bowling League. He loved do it yourself projects; golfing with friends; the Chicago Cubs, but mostly, he loved his wife and family. In addition to his wife, Mr. Zawislak is survived by his children Susan F.(Gregory A.) Stout of Dayton, New Jersey; Christine M. Eyer(Glenn) of Elmira, New York and Teresa A. (Robert A.) Grdina of Lakewood, Ohio. He is also survived by his grandchildren Zachary; Sarah(Raymond); Erika(Paul); Tara(Joshua); Jason(Sheri); Megan(Patrick); Seth(Angela); Edward(Lindsey) and Katherine(Nickolas) and his great grandchildren Nicholas; Kayla; Thomas; Jacob; Ella; Claire; Alyssa and Julia. He is also survived by his sister Mary Orlando of Reading and was preceded in death by his brother Joseph L. Zawislak.
Funeral Procession will depart Bean Funeral Home, 129 East Lancaster Ave. Shillington, Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 9:15 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church, Kerrick & Mitti Roads, Shillington at 10:00 am. Reverend Richard H. Clement, Celebrant. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Saint Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends in Bean Funeral Home Tuesday, November 29, 2016 from 8:00-9:15 am. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Saint John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church Memorial Fund, 420 Holland Street, Shillington, PA 19607 in memory of Mr. Edward J. Zawislak.
