Edward Doerrman

Edward H. Doerrman, 60, of Maidencreek Township, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 3:31 pm in M.S. Hershey Medical Center where he was a patient since November 11, 2016. He was the husband of Kathy L. (Schaeffer) Doerrman. They were married for 35 years. Born in Reading he was the son of the late Howard E. and Betty Jane (Derr) Doerrman. Ed was a 1974 graduate of Schuylkill Valley High School and a 1978 graduate of Kutztown University with a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration. He received his Master Degree in Business Administration from Weidner University. Ed began his career at Phoebe Homes in Allentown in 1981 as an office worker, working his way to Nursing Home Administrator and last as Executive Vice President until 2000. Starting November 2001, Ed worked as Executive Vice President for West Park Insurance in Allentown last working Wednesday, November 2, 2016. Ed did consulting work at various nursing home facilities throughout his life. Ed was a member of Alsace Lutheran Church and served on Church Council; was a member of Kutztown Optimist Club; St. John's Lodge 435 F&AM member of Hillbillies Clan with the Rajah Shrine; was a Charter member and President of Fleetwood Optimist Club; Adult Leader of Pack and Troop 183 in Blandon; member of Hawk Mountain Council; Order of the Arrow member; Wood badge trained; Daniel Carter Beard Award recipient; Venture Crew 59 HAM Radio Club; served as President of the Board at Sacred Heart Villa; served on the Board of Directors for Berks Visiting Nurses Association and was a United Way Representative for Berks Visiting Nurses Association. Ed played Santa Claus at various locations throughout Counties for many years including Shriners Hospital for Children. Ed enjoyed hunting, golfing, and watching the Eagles and Penn State football games. He will be remembered for his fundraising "crab cake" dinners and golf outings he did for various organizations. In addition to his wife Kathy, Ed is survived by his sons Robert H. Doerrman and Steven E. Doerrman both at home; his brother Brian K. Doerrman, husband of Sharon L. Doerrman of St. Lawrence; nieces Erika Doerrman of West Reading, Monica Snyder, wife of Timothy Snyder of Sinking Spring, and Stephanie Serafino, wife of Paul Serafino of Mohnton; step brother Shawn Seivert of Mohrsville; step sister Beth Frey, wife of Carl Fry of Mohrsville and his step mother Lydia Smith, wife of John Smith of Mohrsville.
Funeral Service will be held in Alsace Lutheran Church, 2201 Kutztown Road, Reading, Monday, December 5, 2016 at 11:00 am. Reverend Mark E. Brophy will officiate. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive relatives and friends in Bean Funeral Home North 16th & Rockland Streets, Hampden Heights, Sunday, December 4, 2016 from 4:00-8:00 pm and Monday, December 5, 2016 from 10:00-10:45 am in The Chapel at Alsace Lutheran Church. Masonic Service will be conducted by St. John's Lodge 435 F&AM Sunday at 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Kutztown Optimist Club PO Box 173, Kutztown, PA 19530 in memory of Edward H. Doerrman. Online condolences may be made at www.beanfuneralhomes.com
