Edmund Capece

Edmund S. Capece, 92, of Spring Township, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 3:35 am in the care and comfort of his family. He was the husband of Elizabeth M.M. (Dackweiler) Capece who is a guest at Berks Heim. Born in Lancaster, Mr. Capece was the son of the late Salvatore F. and Anna B. (Vollmer) Capece. He was of the Catholic Faith and was employed by Pearle Vision as an optician and later as regional manager for 35 years retiring in 1987. He was an avid golfer and a member of Reading Country Club for 40 years and was a member of their Hall of Fame. Mr. Capece was also a member of Clover Park AA and enjoyed playing gin rummy and poker with family and friends. In addition to his wife he is survived by his son Frank R. DeGeorge, Jr. husband of Jacqueline A. DeGeorge of Sinking Spring and his daughter Debra L. Schlack, wife of Jeff Schlack of West Lawn along with his grandchildren Ryan A. DeGeorge and Kristie L. Redcay and his great grandchildren Kylie and Brennen Redcay. Also surviving are his sisters Barbara Humphries, wife of Neil Humphreys of Virginia and Gloria Kishen of Arizona along with several nieces and nephews and was preceded in death by his sister Caroline Pleva.
Memorial Service will be held in Bean Funeral Homes & Crematory, 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring, Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 11:00 am. Reverend Kerry L. Hicks will officiate. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. The family will receive relatives and friends in Bean Funeral Homes & Crematory Tuesday 10:00-11:00 am. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association PO Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011 in memory of Mr. Edmund S. Capece.
