Earl Matthews, Jr

Earl O. Matthews, Jr., 85, of Spring Township passed away November 21, 2008 at 10:33 am in his residence of natural causes. He was a loving husband to Margaret M.(Schnable) Matthews to whom he was married for 61 years. Born in Reading he was the son of the late Earl, Sr. and Bertha(Brummer) Matthews. Mr. Matthews was a graduate of Wilson High School, a member of Advent Lutheran Church, and was employed by Local Union 743 in Reading as an electrician for 45 years retiring in 1988. He was a Army Airforce Lt. during WWII and was a B-25 pilot. In addition to his wife he was a loving father to Ronald B. Matthews husband of Dee F. Ottolini of Barto and Bonnie L. Balsley of Lititz. He was a loving grandfather to Heather L.; Eric J.; Kanen A.; and Derron M. and a loving great grandfather to Rachel and Benjamin. He is also survived by a brother James Matthews of Everett, PA.
