E. Hills Jr.

E. Prescott (Pres) Hills Jr., 85, of West Lawn passed away of natural causes on Friday December 11, 2020 at Reading Hospital. Born in New York City, he was the son of the late Edgar Prescott Hills Sr. and Evelyn (Broadhurst) Hills. Mr. Hills was preceded in death by his wife Nancy H. (Heron) Hills.

Mr. Hills is survived by three children; son Robert (Scott) P. Hills, husband of Leslie of Lancaster Co., son Jeffrey C. Hills, husband of Lori of Sinking Spring and daughter Audrey L. Hills of West Lawn. He is also survived by five grandchildren; Ryan, Kyle, Brandon, Tara and Trevor as well as four great grandchildren; Ellis, Declan, Westin, Leland and a sister Lois Kohart of Moorestown N.J.

Pres spent his formative years growing up in Hastings on the Hudson, NY.  His family moved to the Reading area during the Fall of his Senior year in High School.  After graduating from Wilson High School, he proudly served in the US Navy stationed on the USS Arcadia. Mr. Hills also attended Gettysburg and Albright colleges and then worked at Hofmann Industries for 42 yrs. as the Director of Human Resources.

He was an active member/Trustee of the First Presbyterian Church (aka/now as Park Road Presbyterian), a Red Cross Safety Instructor and member of both the Manufacturers Association and INROADS.

He was an accomplished basketball player for Wilson, nicknamed “Hammer” and enjoyed playing Golf and spending time with his family at the Cottage on Cape Cod.  He will be forever remembered for the family – Wiffle Ball, Horseshoes and Ping Pong Championships.  His Grandchildren affectionately knew him as Sandwich Man and Dr. Hills for his First Aid and healing powers of all nicks, bumps and scratches.  Always the Master of the Pregnant Pause and many stories and sayings – Marriage is an institution, in my 100 plus years, when you’ve got it flaunt it, E.P. Zigenfuss, whatsgonnamadu.  In his later years he perfected Lazy Boy days (naps) and nights.

There will be a private memorial service held at Park Road Presbyterian Church at the convenience of the family at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Bean Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., 3825 Penn Avenue Sinking Spring.
