Dr. Michael A. Ciriaco, 61, of Exeter Township, passed away September 16, 2010 at 12:10 am in St. Joseph Medical Center. He was the husband of Cynthia J.(Gasior)Ciriaco to whom he was married to for 19 wonderful years and renewed their wedding vows in the Grand Bahamas in May of 2010. Born in Philadelphia he was the son of Jean E.(Toberman)Ciriaco of Muhlenberg Township and the late Dr. Samuel E. Ciriaco. Dr. Ciriaco was a 1967 graduate of Central Catholic High School, a 1971 graduate of Villanova Univeristy with a BA degree, 1985 received his doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. in 1985 he served his internship program at Allentown Osteopathic Medical Center and served his receptership with Dr. Galen Young, DO in Bala Cynwyd in Osteopathic Manipulation and General Practice in 1984. He also served his residency in both Erie, PA and Popano Beach, FL. Dr. Ciriaco was a member of Boy Scout Troop 147, Holy Guardian Angels RCC where he received the Catholic Award and Order of Arrow and earned the honor of Eagle Scout. He received AD, ALT, ARET, DEI and Washington Medals along with Phi Sigma Gamma Medical Award. In 1985 he became board certified in family practice, 1994 became a certified team physician and from 1993-1996 he was Medical Director at Berkshire Manor Nursing Home, 1988-1994, Medical Director at Berks Technical Institute, 2000-2005 Medical Director of Skilled Nursing and Hospice, 1996-2004 Medcial Director of LPGA Betsy King Classic, He was a member of the American Osteopathic Association, Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association, American College of Sports Medicine, Pennsylvania Osteopathic Family Physicians Society, American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, Florida Osteopathic Family Medical Association, Instructor at Philadelphia College of Osteopathy and from 1968-1971 was a active member of Muhlenberg Swimming Association where he was a life guard, member of swim team and a swim coach. From 1974-1984 he was owner of Waldon Landscape Company. In 1985 he began in private family practice with his father, Dr. Samuel E. Ciriaco specializing in Osteopahtic manupulation and in 1986 took over the practice until 2010. He loved Villanova Basketball and Football as well as the Eagles and Phillies. He loved to read, golf and the shore. In addition to his wife, Dr. Ciriaco is survived by his sons, Michael Angelo Ciriaco, fiance of Kelly Walsh of Bellmar, NJ and Samuel Joseph Ciriaco of Bellmar, NJ along with his grandson Brandon T. Ciriaco. Also surviving are his sisters, Michele wife of Victor Tucci of Temple, Deborah wife of Robert Westerholm of Eloy, AZ and Patricia Boccagno companion of Joseph Gery of Dallas, TX. There are also 2 nieces and 5 nephews. He is also survived by his faithful companion Duke. Michael had a gift of touching people's lives with his love for life, his compassion and caring for others, his generosity and his incredible sense of humor. He could tell a story like no other. His strength and courage will always be admired and remembered. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend. As a physiian he exemplified the meaning of his vocation with his care and compassion, going above and beyond the call of duty often making house calls and showing how very much he cared for each patient. He loved his vacations, especially Sanibel Island and St. Martin. Michael truly enjoyed each day of his life.
