Anthony R. Yaklich, 87, formerly of West Lawn, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Wyncote Place. He was the loving husband for over 58 years to Jean W. (Walbert) before she had passed on January 24, 2019. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late, Anthony and Dorothy (Eckenroth) Yaklich. Anthony served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He went on to graduate from Kutztown University, then West Chester for his Master’s Degree and finally achieving his Doctorate in Education from Nova Southeastern University. He worked for over 42 years in the education field, serving as a teacher and principal to the Reading School District and the Schuylkill Valley School District. Anthony spent his time reading, watching sporting events, hiking, fishing, and spoiling his grandchildren.
Anthony is survived by his children, Elizabeth A. Comport, wife of James C. of Gilbertsville, Melissa Y. Dunham, wife of Steve, of Annapolis, MD, his grandchildren, Brianna E. Torres, wife of Benjamin E. and Tyler James Comport, husband of Melissa A. Anthony is also survived by his brother, John Yaklich, husband of Janet.
Services for Anthony will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Anthony’s Honor to the Alzheimer’s Association. Online condolences may be made at www.beanfuneralhomes.com
