Dr. Glenys A Waldman, 78, passed away Monday, May 1, 2023 at 10:37 pm at Reading Hospital.  She was the wife of the late Reverend Willard W. Wetzel who passed away May 5, 2005.  Born in Philadelphia, Dr. Waldman was the daughter of the late Dr. David and Olga (Cohen) Waldman, and earned a Ph.D. in Germanic philology from the University of Pennsylvania. She was the first female head librarian at the Masonic Temple in Philadelphia and retired following 30 years of service. After retiring she moved to Reading, where she sang tenor in the Reading Choral Society. She spoke English, Standard German, Pennsylvania German, Dutch, French, and Yiddish. Dr. Waldman is survived by her step-children Lois Dieterly wife of David Dieterly of Wyomissing; Tim Wetzel husband of Jane Wetzel of Beaver, Pennsylvania; Steve Wetzel husband of Lisa Wetzel of Pittsburgh and her step-grandchildren Christin Hiser wife of Austin Hiser; Jennifer Barrett wife of Robert Barrett; Andrew Dieterly; Ben Wetzel; Sarah Brahim wife of Justin Brahim and her step-great grandchildren Bradley and Aubrey Barrett.  She is also survived by her sister Lise Menn of Boulder, Colorado; her nephews Joe Menn husband of Samantha Zee; Stephen Menn; great niece Eleanor Menn and great nephews Finnegan and Orlando Menn.

Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Chapel at Phoebe Berks Village Monday, May 8, 2023 at 11:00 am.  The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:30 am to 11:00 am.  Interment will be held at the convenience of the family at St. John’s (Gernant’s) Church Cemetery, Leesport.  Bean Funeral Homes & Crematory, 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring is in charge of arrangements and online condolences may be made at www.beanfuneralhomes.com
