Douglas Walters

Douglas A. Walters,89, of Reinholds, PA passed peacefully on March 5, 2021, after a long and fulfilling life. Born in Reading on March 12, l931, he was the son of the late Oscar S. Walters and Alice E. (Ashburn) Walters. He is predeceased by his wife, Kathryn Laura (Carl) Walters, his brother John T. Walters, nephew Glenn, and one great grandchild Darius. Doug is survived by his son Mark D., spouse of Laura L. Walters, daughter Julle M., spouse of Leland Peltier and step-daughter Penny, spouse of Robert Smith. There are also 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and two nephews.

After graduating from Reading Senior High School in 1949 Doug enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was proud to have served on both the U.S.S. Mindoro and the U.S.S. Lake Champlain as an aviation technician. He retired after working 30+ years as an electrician for Carpenter Technology. Doug was happiest during gatherings with family and friends. He also thoroughly enjoyed karaoke, golfing, fishing, outdoor concerts, gardening, solving jigsaw puzzles and watching Philadelphia teams sports.

Doug's family will conduct a private graveside service.
