Douglas C. Smith

Douglas C. Smith, 95, of Cumru Township, passed away Friday, June 16, 2023 at 4:45 am at Rittenhouse at Muhlenberg.  He was preceded in death by his first wife Kathryn (Keller) Smith, April 1991 and by his second wife Elsie (Weidner) Witycyak Smith December 2019.  Born in Monocacy, Mr. Smith was the son of the late Charles L. and Esther V. (Miller) Smith.  He was a member of Christ(Yocom’s) Lutheran Church, Grill and served in the United States Army during World War II.  Mr. Smith was an electrician for Car Tech for 32 years until his retirement.  He is survived by his sons Douglas C. Smith, Jr. of West Chester and David C. Smith husband of Marie E. Smith of Herndon, Virginia.  Mr. Smith is also survived by his brother Joseph Smith of Columbus, Ohio and was preceded in death by his step-daughter Doris Swisher and his siblings Bertha M. Breitenstein, Kathryn M. Patton, Elizabeth J. Smith, Edith E. Smith and Esther Bell.

Graveside Service will be held at Christ (Yocom’s) Church Cemetery 840 Philadelphia Ave., Cumru Township, Thursday, June 29, 2023 at 12:00 pm.  Military Honors will be rendered by the United States Army Honor Guard.  Bean Funeral Home, 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring is in charge of arrangements and online condolences may be made at www.beanfuneralhomes.com
