Douglas Houston

Douglas D. "Doug" Houston, 84, of Wernersville, passed away June 4, 2011 at 8:45 pm in Phoebe Berks Gardens. He was the husband of the late Donna R. (Redding) Houston who passed away June 30, 1993. Born in Meyersdale, Somerset County, he was the son of the late Hugh L. and Catharine M. (Wiland) Houston. He was an office manager for Columbia Gas System in Pittsburgh for 12 years, business manager for Gettysburg School District from 1964-1967 and business manager for Wilson School District for 23 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church in Womelsdorf and served in the United States Army in World War II. He was a member of Meyersdale Masonic Lodge 554 and the Scottish Rite Valley in Reading. He is survived by his daughters Pamela M. wife of William E. Heckler of Upper Bern Township, Sharon L. wife of David VanMeter of Ptersburg, WV and Heather B. Houston of Upper Bern Township along with his grandchildren Jessica White, David, Dustin, Amanda VanMeter.
