Doris Sockel

Doris L. Sockel, 78, of Reading, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017 at 4:30 am in Mifflin Center. She was the wife of Joseph R. Sockel. Born in Reading, Mrs. Sockel was the daughter of the late Hume and Hattie (Bower) Schlegel. She was a graduate of Reading High School and was a member of Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church. In addition to her husband Joseph, Mrs. Sockel is survived by her son Craig J. Sockel, husband of Karen Sockel of West Chester and was preceded in death by her brother Arlington Schlegel and her sister Betty Becker.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in The Chapel of Saint George at Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum 3139 Kutztown Road, Laureldale Monday, December 11, 2017 at 11:00 am. Reverend Monsignor John J. Grabish, Celebrant. Inurnment will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association 225 North Michigan Ave. Floor 17, Chicago, Illinois 60601 in memory of Mrs. Doris L. Sockel.
