Doris L. Sherman

Doris Louise (Heffner) Sherman, 94, formerly of Reading, passed away on, Wednesday, June 26, 2024, in the presence of her family. Born on July 7, 1929 in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Agnes Amanda Heffner. She was the companion of the late Clifford Shober for 40 years.Doris was a shipping department supervisor at Robert Emig Products of Reading, retiring in 1994. She was a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She loved spending time with her family, listening to country, gospel, and Elvis’s music, attending carnivals and bazaars, traveling, crocheting, and crossword puzzles. 

Doris was a devoted mother and grandmother to her three sons, six grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. She is survived by her two sons, Timothy Sherman, husband of Cindy, Terry Shober, husband of Karen. Doris was predeceased by her son, David Sherman. She is survived by her grandchildren, Jennifer Sherman, Christina Kleffel, wife of Kenneth, Janelle Sherman, Jese Downs, Joshua Downs, and Brant Sherman. Her great grandchildren, Kaylee Schaeffer, wife of Bryce, Nicholas Wentzel, Joshua Wentzel, Katelynn Sherman, and Tia Sherman. She is predeceased by her great grandson Cody Kleffel.Doris was one of eleven children. She is survived by her sister Geraldine Hughes, of Temple, and is predeceased by her brothers, Samuel J. Heffner Jr, Richard Heffner, and James Heffner, her sisters, Helen Wentzel, Emma Stoudt, Mabel Heffner, Jeanette Faller, Virginia Norris, and Gladys (Rene) Laity.

Graveside service for Doris will be held on Monday, July 1, 2024, at 1:00 PM in Becker’s St. Peter’s Cemetery, 265 Maidencreek Road, Fleetwood PA 19522.
