Doris Beechert

Doris M. Beechert, 98, of Reading, passed away on Sunday September 26, 2010, at 10:35pm at Mifflin Center, where she was a resident since July 2009.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Ferdinand and Myra L. (Detweiler) Drace, and the wife of the late Vernon S. Beechert who passed away November 6, 2001.

Doris was a 1930 graduate of Reading High School. She worked as a bookkeeper at Berkshire Knitting Mills, retiring in 1940. She was a member of St. Mark's UCC, Reading where she served on consistory and taught Sunday school for 41 years. She was also a former member of Women's Guild and Grey Lions at St. Mark's UCC.

Mrs. Beechert is survived by daughter Bonnie M. (Beechert) wife of William H. Goodwin III of Reading. There are 4 grandchildren; Michael L. Goodwin, Kevin J. Goodwin, Michelle (Goodwin) West and Brian T. Goodwin and 7 Great-Grandchildren; Brandi, Steven, Meghan, Alexa, Madison Goodwin and Savannah and Alexandra West. She is preceded by a sister Ruth Stout.
