Donald E. Riegel, 86, of Douglassville and formerly of Mt. Penn, passed away August 4, 2010 at 8:05 PM in Reading Hospital & Medical Center. He was the husband of Johanna (Kinest) Riegel, who he met in Germany during World War 2, until she passed away in 1987. Born in Reading on February 10, 1924, he was the son of the late Elwood D. and Goldie C. (Clevenger) Riegel.
Donald was a graduate of Reading High School and McCann School of Business. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Laureldale.
Donald was employed by Kiwi in Douglassville for 26 years retiring in 1987 as production manager. He was an Army veteran of World War 2 and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of Elks Lodge #814 in Pottstown.
Surviving are a son James H. Riegel husband of Michele L. Riegel of Lower Alsace Twp., a daughter Sandra F. (Riegel) wife of Douglas VanCampen of Exeter Twp., 4 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 6 step great grandchildren, a sister Joan (Riegel) wife of Joseph DeMarte and 2 brothers Harold Riegel and Leon Riegel all of Reading. He was predeceased by 2 brothers James Riegel and Richard Riegel.
