Dolores Stroud

Dolores Stroud, 69, of Brecknock Township, passed away at home on Saturday, April 30, 2016 after a long fight with cancer.
She was born in the small town of Benavides, Texas in 1946 the daughter of the late Rufino and Lamar (Garcia) Vela. She attended Texas Woman's University and received a degree in Occupational Therapy. While there she met her husband who was in the Army. He was sent to Viet Nam but they stayed in touch and when he returned they became engaged and were married in 1968.
After leaving the Army they moved to Pennsylvania. Dolores worked as an Occupational Therapist at various facilities including Ephrata Hospital and Lancaster Rehab Hospital, from which she retired several years ago. She continued to work part time as needed. She is remembered for her ever present smile and her laughter.
She is survived by her husband Mike, two daughters, Melissa Stroud and Patty Rossi, wife of Michael Rossi, and two grandsons, Dominic and Vincent Rossi and a sister Irma Wassner, wife of Gerhard Wassner.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in The Church of Saint Benedict, 2020 Chestnut Hill Road, Plowville, Robeson Township, Friday, May 6, 2016 at 11:00 am. Reverend Philip F. Rodgers, Celebrant. Interment will follow in Robeson Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends in Bean Funeral Home, 129 East Lancaster Ave. Shillington, Thursday, May 5, 2016 from 5-7:00 pm.
