Derek Wise

Derek M. Wise, 58, of Laureldale, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2022 in the Reading Hospital.  Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Nelson and Sandra (Schafer) Wise.  He graduated from Reading High School in 1981.  While in High School he participated in Swimming and Water Polo.  In August Derek would have worked in the Injection Molding Department at East Penn Manufacturing for 27 years.  Derek was always happy and loved to dance.  He followed a lot of bands around the area but some of his favorites were Sloth loves Chunk and Sapphire.  He was an avid sports fan and cheered on the Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Flyers and Phillies, and Penn State Nittany Lions.  Derek cherished his sports memorabilia that he collected.  He enjoyed taking trips to Ocean City, Maryland with his sons and traveling to Las Vegas.

Derek is survived by his sons, Joshua Wise of Sinking Spring and Jacob Wise of Ephrata.  Also surviving are his brothers, Daniel Wise husband of Jen of Wernersville, Dustin Wise of Mohnton, and Daren Wise of Muhlenberg, his nieces, Carley, Skylar, Devyn, and Riley of Wernersville, and many close friends.  Derek touched a lot of lives and will be greatly missed by all.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at 2:00 pm in Bean Funeral Homes, 3825 Penn Avenue, Sinking Spring.  The family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday, June 19th from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.  In honor of Derek’s interests, he requested that everyone who attended his services to wear either a sports jersey or a Hawaiian shirt.  Bean Funeral Homes, Sinking Spring is in charge of arrangements and online condolences may be made at www.beanfuneralhomes.com.
