Deborah Ann Smith, 65, of Spring Township, Pennsylvania, passed away into Eternal Paradise on Saturday, October 17th, 2015 at 11:35 AM in Reading Hospital while surrounded by many loving family members and friends. She was the wife of the late Gary Neil Smith who passed away August 8th, 2011. Born in Butler Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Florence Elizabeth (Mercurio) Thompson of Butler and the late George Elias Thompson. She was a 1968 graduate of Butler Senior High School and attended John Power Career Academy in Pittsburgh. Deborah was a member of Saint Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church and was an Aide in many capacities for the Wilson School District from 1992-2009. She is survived by her sons, Matthew Ryan Smith, husband of Stephanie Smith of Ontelaunee Township and Jordan Patrick Smith, husband of Ara Germaine Smith of Bern Township. She is also survived by her brother, Buddy Thompson, of Butler and her sister, Cynthia Schmidt, wife of Michael Schmidt, also of Butler. During her teenage years and into her young adulthood, Deborah was a member of the color guard in the Catholic Daughters of America. Deborah enjoyed shopping, reading, gardening, listening to the radio, floral arrangements, sending greeting cards to her many friends and family members, and burning candles and tarts. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and purple was her favorite color. Her children and her daughters in-law were her life and brought her tremendous amounts of pride, joy, and happiness. She also loved her caregiver, Ruth Jacobs of Yeadon, Pennsylvania, so very much as they developed a very special bond over the years. Deborah's family would also like to thank Griswold Home Care of Wyomissing, Pennsylvania as well as Assured Assistance of Shillington, Pennsylvania for tending to Deborah's needs and making sure she received the tender loving care she most certainly deserved. Prayer Service will be held in Bean Funeral Home, 3825 Penn Avenue in Sinking Spring on Saturday, October 24th, 2015 at 10:00 AM. Reverend Thomas P. Bortz will officiate.
