David N. “Lil Ragu” Piccone, 67, of Newmanstown, passed away Monday, May 1,
2023 at 12:37 pm at Tower Health. He was the husband of Tina M. (Long) Piccone. Born in
West Reading, Dave was the son of the late Nicholas and Jennie (Sayer) Piccone. He was
employed by Carpenter Technology in Reading for 28+ years until his retirement. He was also a courier for Reading Pediatrics for the past 12 years. Dave’s passion was music, he was an avid motorcyclist and he loved his wife and family. He held his grandchildren very close in heart. In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Jared D.Piccone husband of Gurjeet,Shillington; Laurie M. wife of Charlie Waraksa, Exeter Township; Dane Piccone husband of Stephanie,Minersville; Shawn M. Ernst husband of Heather,Shillington; Jenna M. wife of Joshua Moodie, Sinking Spring and his 16 grandchildren. Dave is also survived by his brothers, Gary Piccone husband of Judy, Exeter Township; Nicholas T. Piccone, Reading.
Dave started his own band in 2001 “ Lil Ragu Blues Band”. He enjoyed playing with his friends
in Burning House and various bands. His love for music made him who he was. He was known
for telling stories through his music about him and his wife. Anyone who knew him, knew there
was always a story to be told. Dave had a passion for Harley’s. He knew every HD dealer
around. He loved hitting the open road with his buddies. Dave was a member of Masonic Lodge #435 F&AM, he enjoyed pigeon shooting and had a love for his train’s which he could never wait to share with his grandkids. One of his favorite pastimes was traveling to Tennessee with his wife. Dave was an unforgettable man, he was truly one of a kind.
Heaven just got a lot cooler when Ragu arrived. He’s rocking and rolling with his friends that
have predeceased him.
Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at Bean Funeral Home 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking
Spring Monday, May 8, 2023 at 11:00 am. Amy S. Landis, Celebrant will officiate. Interment will
follow at Pleasant View Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends at Bean Funeral
Home Sunday, May 7, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm and Monday, May 8, 2023 from 10:00 am
