David M. Ashton, 81, of Wernersville, passed away January 4, 2011 at 3:35 PM in St. Joseph Medical Center where he was a patient since December 30th. He was the husband of Nancy W. (Welsh) Ashton. Born in Philadelphia on April 11, 1929, he was the son of the late William W. and Eleanor L. (Baetzel) Ashton.
David was a 1947 graduate of Frankfort High School and received an Associate Degree in Accounting from Temple University. He was a member of Willow Grove Methodist Church and Joseph H. Brown Lodge 751, F. & A.M. in Philadelphia.
He was employed as the Parts and Service Manager of Philco for 24 years, later was employed as the National Service Manager of Litton Industries for 7 years, later was the Controller of NARDA for 7 years, and was a Founder and Director of United Servicers Association for 4 years until his retirement in 1997.
Surviving in addition to his wife are 2 daughters Nancy Ashton- Hoffman of North Wales and Marilyn L. (Ashton) O'Neal wife of James O'Neil of Dublin, 2 sons David H. Ashton husband of Candace M. Ashton of Avon Lake, Ohio and Donald W. Ashton of Norwalk, Connecticut, 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and 3 sisters Roberta (Ashton) Wible of Lansdale, Margaret L. (Ashton) Tyzack of Philadelphia and Eileen H. (Ashton) Petrilli of Lansdale. Mr. Ashton was predeceased by 2 brothers William W. Ashton and Charles Ashton.
