Daniel Kranis Sr., 94, of Wernersville, passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the loving husband to Roberta C. (Kramer) for over 65 years before her passing on April 9, 2020. Born in Reading, Daniel was the son of the late Augustus Kranis and Bertha (Sikora). Daniel graduated from Central Catholic, class of 1946, and went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps. After serving in the Marine Corps, Daniel went on to work as a Drafting and Tool Designer for Dana Corp. for over 42 years before retiring. Daniel was a resilient fighter, being a four- time cancer survivor. A lifetime model airplane enthusiast, he was a member of the Cocalico Propbusters R/C Club in Denver, PA, where he shared his love of flying and made many friends. His passion for building and flying model airplanes began as a child at the age of 6, when his father bought him his first kit from the five and dime store. This weekly tradition became a lifetime hobby of building (hundreds) of radio-controlled model airplanes. He also had his pilot’s license and built a passenger plane using a Volkswagen engine. Above all, his greatest joys came from sharing time with his family.
Daniel is survived by his children, Daniel J. Kranis, husband of Debra, of Muhlenberg Township, Danielle R. Kranis, of Wernersville, Daniel Kranis Jr. husband of Suzie, of Cumru Township, Denise C. Maiero, of Peachtree City, GA, and Diane Marie Zerphy, of New Tripoli. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren, and his loving therapy grand-dog, Benny.
