Clyde Underkoffler

February 21, 1931 — January 20, 2016

Clyde N. Underkoffler, age 84, of Exeter Township, passed away on January 20, 2016 in the Reading Hospital. Clyde was born in Gilbertsville, PA, to Russell W. and Mary R. (Frey) Underkoffler on February 21, 1931. He attended high school at Boyertown High, graduating in 1948. Clyde went on to earn a BS degree in Business Administration from Albright College in 1954. He proudly served as Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

Clyde was later employed as an efficiency expert at Pepsi Cola in Reading, PA and Concept Management Inc., before retiring in 2000. He served his community as Treasurer of Berks-Montgomery Municipal Authority for 35 years.

He enjoyed fine dining, gardening, traveling, dancing, and following sports such as golf, auto racing and the local Philadelphia teams, and spending time with his family.

Clyde is preceded in death by his wife, Helen M. (Roehrig) Underkoffler who passed away March 22, 2012, daughter Darlene J. Fields, brothers Robert Rothenberger, Richard W. Houck, Sr., and Larry Ritter.

Clyde is survived by his children Nanette (Visner) Witmer, wife of John; Linda Mauck, wife of Richard; Bruce Underkoffler, husband of Susanne; brothers Daniel Ritter, husband of Linda and Norman Ritter, Jr., husband of Betty; sisters-in-law Maefern Houck, Arlene Rothenberger and Ruth Ann Ritter; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren

Services will be held in Bean Funeral Home, 1605 Rockland St., Hampden Heights on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 11:00am, Rev. Paul L. Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Laureldale Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends 10:00am - 11:00am.
