Clifford P. Ocksrider, 84, of Reading, passed away August 17, 2009 at 12:45 PM in Reading Hospital & Medical Center where he was a patient for 1 A½ days. He was the husband of June L. (Gottshall) Ocksrider for 62 years. Born in Reading on October 22, 1924, he was the son of the late Elery A. and Emma J. (Hoffman) Ocksrider.
Mr. Ocksrider was a 1943 graduate of Reading High School. He was an avid sportsman as a young man, playing basketball, baseball and football.
He was the owner and operator of Cliff's Grocery and a co owner of Bea's Luncheonette from 1948 until 1963. He later worked in the security industry working for various local companies. He served as a committeeman for the 17th Ward, was employed as a county constable and worked as a county detective under District Attorney Robert van Hoove.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son Steven C. Ocksrider husband of Teresa J. Ocksrider of Gainesville, FL and 2 grandchildren Matthew S. Ocksrider and Krista N. Hall.
