Charles W. "Butch" Wentzel, 77, of West Lawn, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, where he had been a patient since January 11th.
Born in Berks Co., he was the son of the late Lewis Hassler and Mildred J. (Hinnershitz) Hassler.
He was the husband of Eleanor M. (Reynolds) Wentzel. The couple shared 55 wonderful years of marriage.
He was a 1950 graduate of Wilson High School, and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of Advent Lutheran Church, West Lawn.
He worked as a mechanic for Hassler and Son's Garage in West Lawn for 31 years, retiring in 1985.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son: Michael G., husband of Kimberly Wentzel of Lancaster, and a daughter: Sue Ann (Wentzel), wife of Kip Keiser of Germantown, MD.
There are also five grandchildren: Brad, husband of Bobbi Wentzel; Todd, husband of Amber Keiser; Erik Keiser, Kirsten and Zachary Wentzel.
He is also survived by a brother: Ronald L. Wentzel of West Lawn.
In addition to his parents, he is pre deceased by a son: Larry A. Wentzel, who passed away on March 29, 2001.
