Charles Moyer, Jr

Charles D. Moyer, Jr., 83, of Leesport, passed away on September 21, 2017 at The Garden for Memory Care at Easton.
Born in Ephrata, he was the son of the late Charles D. Moyer, Sr. and Leah N. (Shaeffer) Moyer.
Charles was employed as an edger for Pennsylvania Optical Co. for 38 years, retiring in 1996. Sonny was a very active member of Hope Lutheran church, spending many days a week supporting church initiatives. Sonny was an usher and also worked in the food pantry at the church. Sonny loved all animals, especially his dogs, cats, and all the cats of the neighborhood.
He was predeceased by his sisters: Geraldine Fidler, wife of Jim and Leah "Tootie" Lewis, wife of Robert Follette.
Survivors include his brother: Glenn A. Moyer, husband of Cookie Moyer and sister: Elnora "Sis" DiNino, widow of Elia DiNino. Sonny was also survived by Marcie M. Machemer his niece whom he shared a very special bond.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hope Lutheran Church Pantry and the Reading Emergency Shelter.
