Charles Bleakley

January 31, 1938 — May 4, 2018

Charles J. Bleakley, 80, of Wyomissing, passed on Friday May 4, 2018 at the Reading Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Elaine M. (Oufiero) Bleakley. Born in Orange, New Jersey he was the son of Earl L. Bleakley and Harriet Bleakley. He served proudly as a jet engine mechanic in the United States Air Force. In addition to his wife of 57 years, he is survived by his children, Debra Ackelson, wife of Jud, of Reading; Charles "Chuck" J. Bleakley Jr., husband of Patty, of Pottstown; Christa Hopwood, wife of Tyler of Leesport; and grandchildren, Rosemarie (Ackelson) Campbell wife of Kyle, Kayla Ackelson, Nicholas Bleakley, Garrett Bleakley, Swaye Hopwood, Tuesday Hopwood, and Pepper Hopwood. Charles is also survived by his brother Robert Bleakley, husband of Millie, of Mt. Laurel, NJ.
Charles retired from Metropolitan Steel Industries (Steelco) in 2010 where he served as Traffic Manager and also worked in the estimating department. He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, enjoyed working in his yard, fishing and traveling with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend to all.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, 2810 St. Albans Drive, Reading 19608 on Friday May 11, 2018 at 11:00am. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday May 10, 2018 from 5:00pm-8:00pm and Friday May 11, 2018 from 9:30am-10:30am at Bean Funeral Home, 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring, 19608. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105. Online condolences may be made to www.beanfuneralhome.com.
