Charles Baur

Charles K. Baur, 92, of Shillington, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2016 in Reading Hospital. He was the husband of the late Marion S. (Hirneisen) Baur. Born in Reading, Mr. Baur was the son of the late Charles E. and Mary Ann (Mohn) Baur. He was a member of Alleghenyville Evangelical Lutheran Church. Mr. Baur was a Chief Warrant Officer 3 in the United States Army serving in World War II and Vietnam as well as serving in Korea for 1 year at the end of hostilities. He received a bronze star in June of 1943 while serving in Sicily. Mr. Baur attended Kansas State University and the University of Italy following the war. Mr. Baur is survived by his children Kenneth C. Baur, husband of Brenda M. Baur of Alleghneyville; Kevin J. Baur, husband of Lise Baur of Silver Spring, Maryland and Kim L. Shipe, wife of Rodney M. Shipe of Mesa, Arizona along with his 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be held in Alleghneyville Evangelical Lutheran Church 1327 Alleghneyville Road, Mohnton, PA 19540, Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at 3:00 pm. Reverend Gregory B. Shreaves will officiate. Interment will be held in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive relatives and friends in Alleghneyville Evangelical Lutheran Church Wednesday 2-3:00 pm In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Heart Association 968 Postal Road, Suite 110, Allentown, PA 18109 in memory of Mr. Charles K.
