Catherine Hoffman

Catherine M. Hoffman, 102, formerly of Reading, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2016 at 2:14 pm in Mifflin Center. She was preceded in death by her 1st husband, John Yourkavitch; her 2nd husband, Chester Bertolet and her 3rd husband, Robert B. Hoffman, who passed away June 8, 1991. Born and raised on Hampden Blvd. in Reading, until she was 91 years of age she was the daughter of the late John W. and Ida M. (Rohrbach) Bauknecht. Mrs. Hoffman enjoyed daily walks through Hampden Park and was employed at DS&W Hosiery Mills for 32 years until her retirmement. She was a member of Alsace Lutheran Church and was a very happy spirited women who always offered humor and kind thoughts to those in her company. She was especially close with her son Barry and his family. One of the happiest days of her life was the birth of her only great grandchild, Derek, now 22 years of age. Her 100th birthday was celebrated in 2014 with family and friends. Mrs. Hoffman is survived by her granddaughter Karen S. (Bertolet) Stavarski, wife of Joseph A. Stavarski of Wyomissing and her great grandson Derek Joseph Stavarski. She was preceded in death by her son Barry K. Bertolet in November of 2005 at the age of 73; her daughter in law Dolores Bertolet in February of 2010 at the age of 75 and her grandson Brad Bertolet in January of 1984.
Funeral Service will held in Bean Funeral Home 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring, Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 10:00 am. Reverend Richard A. Nelson will officiate. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive relatives and friends Saturday, November 26, 2016 from 9:30-10:00 am. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Nursing Staff at Mifflin Center, 500 East Philadelphia Ave., Shillington, PA 19607 in memory of Mrs. Catherine M. Hoffman.
