Catherine Bickel

Catherine E. Bickel, 90, formerly of Reading, passed away August 16, 2009 at 12:15 am in the Henry Health Care Center at Topton Lutheran Home. She was the wife of the late Luther D. Bickel who passed away July 14, 1992. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Robert Carl and Catharine (Steigerwald) Boldt. Mrs. Bickel was a sewing finisher for Nolde and Horst and later co-founded Bickel's Chips of Lancaster County and operated for 12 years. She was a member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church. She is survived by her son John Emmanuel Bickel of Alva, Florida; 2 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren along with brothers Kenneth J. Boldt of Hamburg and Robert Ebinger of Schuylkill Haven and her sister Betty Barth of Reading.
