Carla J. (Chesser) Barna Matz, 55, of Reading, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016 in Penn State Health-St. Joseph Hospital. She was adored by her husband William "Billy" Matz. Born March 12, 1961 at Mather Air Force Base in Sacramento, California, she was the daughter of Kathleen M. (Aiello) Chesser Scheffler of St. Lawrence and the late Carl E. Chesser who passed away August 12, 1981. She was also preceded in death by her step father Ray E. Scheffler who passed away July 18, 2012. Carla was a member of the former Saint Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church. She is survived by her son John M. Barna of Mohrsville who she loved dearly. She will be dearly missed by her siblings Richard C. Chesser, husband of Judy Chesser of Eugene, Oregon; Mark E. Chesser, husband of Susan P. Chesser of Fleetwood; her step brother Mitchel Scheffler, husband of Heidi Scheffler of Virginia Beach, Virginia; step-sisters Denise L. Rapp, wife of William Rapp of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Kim Scheffler of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Carla is also survived by her step children William "Bink" Matz; Paul Matz and Julie Matz along with her 5 step grandchildren.
Carla's family would like to extend their gratitude to the nurses and doctors at Penn State Health-St. Joseph Hospital Medical Surgical Ward, 1st Floor North for their care and kindness shown to them and a special thank you to Sister Rose and the Religious Order for their kindness and support during their time of need.
Memorial Service will be held in Bean Funeral Homes & Crematory, 6 Fairlane Road, Exeter Township, Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 1:00 pm. Reverend Monsignor Edward R. Domin will officiate. Inurnment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive relatives and friends Tuesday 12-1:00 pm. Online condolences may be made at www.beanfuneralhomes.com
