Carl Smith

Carl W. Smith, 88, of Columbia Cottage and formerly of Sacred Heart Villa and Cedar Top, passed away December 26, 2010 in Reading Hospital & Medical Center where he was a patient for 1 day. He was the husband of Josephine K. (Anderson) Smith who he married July 1, 1944. Born in Reading on October 27, 1922, he was the son of the late Morris W. and Bertha E. (Stiely) Smith.

Mr. Smith was a graduate of Reading High School and McCann School of Business. He served in the US Army Air Corp. during World War 2.

Mr. Smith was employed as a buyer by Western Electric for 25 years retiring in 1978 and later worked as a buyer at Progress Electric for 5 years.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son Andrew C. Smith husband of Charlotte A. Smith of Bernville, 2 daughters Patricia A. (Smith) wife of Donald E. Wealand of Sinking Spring and Andrea J. Smith of New Castle, DE, 4 grandchildren and 2 brothers Richard Smith and James Smith.
