Carl M. Brock, 85, of Sinking Spring, passed away May 27, 2011 at 8:38 AM in Reading Hospital & Medical Center where he was a patient since May 21st. He was the husband of Marjorie R. (Jones) Brock who passed away March 29, 2001. Born in Fairmont, West Virginia on June 2, 1925, he was the son of the late Irvin E. and the late Asia Mildred (Donham) Brock.
Mr. Brock was a 1942 graduate of Morgantown High School in West Virginia. He received a BS degree in 1948 from West Virginia University. Carl served in the US Army from 1944 until 1946, serving on both the European and Pacific Fronts.
He was employed as a chemical engineer by U.S. Bureau of Mines in Morgantown, West Virginia from 1948 until 1953 and DuPont Chemical Company in Wilmington, DE from 1953 until 1985. Mr. Brock received two U.S. Patents in chemical production.
He was much loved, patient, humble, a good listener, willing to teach, had an intellectual curiosity and a love of music. Mr. Brock attended West Lawn United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a son Dr. David C. Brock, husband of Jeanne B.. Brock of Spring Twp.; two daughters Mary J. (Brock) wife of Rev. William Frasnelli of Manassas, VA and Jennifer L. (Brock) wife of R. Will Planert of Fairfax, VA; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and a sister Lou Ellen (Brock) wife of Norman Reynolds of Bridgeville, DE. He was predeceased by a daughter Susan Lynn Brock on December 27, 2005.
