C. Moyer

Charles David Moyer, Jr. also known as C. David passed away Sunday November 29, 2015 at Phoebe Health Center.
Dave was born April 24, 1930 in Reading , PA, son of the late Charles D. Moyer Sr. and Gertrude Irene (Smith). He is survived by his bride, Jane D. Wiest, whom he married June 20, 1953.
A graduate of Muhlenberg High School, Dave continued his education at Kutztown State Teachers College for his B.S., as well as receiving an M.S. in Education from Temple University. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Dave was a teacher in the Reading School District for 37 years, including 29 years as a principal in various city schools. During his career an Assistant Superintendent was quoted as saying that Dave is "the kind of person one has to love."
After retiring from the Reading School District in 1990, Dave taught in the continuing education department for Reading Area Community College for many years. Another cherished activity that Dave enjoyed was hosting the RACC Travel Log Series from 1974 to 2007. During this time period he also served as the President of the Reading School District Association of Retirees. In his free time, Dave loved playing tennis and golf, gardening flowers and shrubs, and woodworking in his shop.
Additional survivors include his sister Angelyn (Becky) Musser, wife of Jan Musser who reside in Exeter Township. Becky and David were inseparable since childhood and continued to create an everlasting bond as adults, living close to each other and vacationing together for many years. Dave was thankful for Becky and Jan's ongoing support, especially over the last eight and a half years.
Dave is also survived by two sons, Wesley D. Moyer, his wife Lani of Serbia, Europe and Jonathan D. Moyer and his wife Carole of Exeter Township. Additionally, Dave's six grandchildren are Alicia, Ashlin, Nicholas, David, Lauren and Olivia. He is survived by many extended family members.

A memorial service to celebrate David's wonderful life will be held at Holy Cross United Methodist Church, 329 N. 5th Street Reading, PA on Monday December 7th at 11:00 AM, Rev. Mandy Miller officiating.
