Blaine F. Fabian, 85, of Spring Twp., passed away October 8, 2015.
Born in Audubon, NJ, he was the son of the late Walter A. Fabian, Sr. and Elizabeth K. (Mayer) Fabian.
Blaine graduated from Ephrata High School. He attended Kutztown University and earned continuing education credits from The University of Michigan. He graduated in 1950 from the US Naval School, and served in the US Navy from 1950 to 1954, as a Journalist 1st class.
He began his professional career as a reporter with The Ephrata Review and went on to be a feature writer and wire editor for The Lancaster Sunday News. He later joined Metropolitan Edison Co. where he retired as the Director of Communications.
Blaine became a member of Ephrata Lodge No. 665 Free & Accepted Masons in 1956. He served the Lodge as a Worshipful Master in 1965 and the R.W. Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Pennsylvania as editor in chief of the newsletter, The Pennsylvania Freemason. He was coroneted a 33A� Mason in 1988, and awarded the prestigious "Pennsylvania Franklin Medal" in June of 1999. He was a member of the Lancaster County Shrine Club, serving as president in 1962, and the Rajah Shrine Club of Reading. He served as president of the Fellowship High Twelve Club of Reading, PA, in 1992 and remained actively involved. He was also a member of Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Reading and served as Sovereign Prince. He was a member of Excelsior Mark Lodge No. 216, in Philadelphia, where he served as Worshipful Master in 2005.
He is survived by his wife Loretta E. Fabian, children Marjorie E., wife of Dale E. Ketner, Jr., of Sinking Spring, and Lori E., wife of J. Jerome Skrincosky, of Mohnton. There is one grandchild, Stefanie L., wife of Christopher Royds of Wernersville, and one great-grandchild, Alexandra E. Royds.
The viewing will be at Bean Funeral Home, 3825 Penn Ave., Sinking Spring, on Wednesday, October 14, 2015, from 6-9:00 PM with a Masonic service taking place at 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 3551 N. Broad St., Philadelphia, PA 19140.
