Beverly Edwards Ph. D., 53, of Philadelphia and formerly of Reading passed away February 18, 2011 at 8:20 AM in Penn Hospice at Rittenhouse where she was a patient since February 2nd. She was the loving daughter of Irene (Pietrzykowski) Edwards of Reading and the late Edward J. Edwards. Her passing is also mourned by her partner Fernando Mendez and his son Fernando Andres.
Beverly was a 1975 graduate of Central Catholic High School, attended Albright College, received a Master's Degree from Bryn Mawr College, a Doctoral Degree from Lehigh University and a Master's of Business Administration from the Wharton School.
A resident of Philadelphia, she was constantly on the move from Reading to Avalon, NJ, where she was a popular tennis player.
Beverly served as Executive Director of Learning and Education of Human Resources at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Recipient of 2002 Distinguished Alumna Award. Among her many accomplishments at the University of Pennsylvania, she led an effort to redesign the course catalog and enrollment process to allow a single, web-based portal to enrollment.
An avid reader and knitter, she loved Jojo, a Shih Tzu that shared her food. Her intelligence, outgoing personality, kindness and great sense of humor will be missed by the many people whose lives she touched.
