Betty Powell

Betty Jane (Werner) Powell, 97, of West Lawn passed away Sunday, October 9, 2022 in the Reading Hospital.  Born in West Reading, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Catherine (Dorreman) Werner.  Betty was the loving wife of Richard D. Powell, together they shared 40 years of marriage before his passing on May 18, 1988.   She graduated from West Reading High School and worked at Berkshire Knitting Mill.  Betty was a dedicated member of the Wyomissing Church of the Brethren.  She was an avid knitter and would make hats for babies in the hospital.  She enjoyed puzzles, reading, and traveling.  Most of all Betty loved spending time with her family.

Betty is survived by her children, Kerry R. Powell of West Lawn, and Colleen A. Coldren, wife of Larry of East Earl, PA.  Also surviving are her grandchildren, Kimberly and Kelli, and her great grandchildren, Connor, Logan, Rileigh, and Colin.  Betty is preceded in death by her 8 brothers and sisters.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 17, 2022 at 10:30 am in Wyomissing Church of the Brethren, 2200 State Hill Road, Wyomissing, PA 19610.  The family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, October 17th from 10:00 am to 10:30 am.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in honor of Mrs. Betty Jane Powell to Wyomissing Church of the Brethren.  Bean Funeral Homes, Sinking Spring is in charge of arrangements and online condolences may be made at www.beanfuneralhomes.com.
