Betty J. Harper

Betty J. Harper, 86, of South Heidelberg Township, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023 at 10:00 pm in Reading Hospital.  She was the wife of the late Richard W. Harper who passed away September 9, 2023.  Born in Reading, Mrs. Harper was the daughter of the late George C. and Ethel (Kachel) Mast.  She was a member of One United Church of Christ in Kenhorst and was a graduate and May Queen/Homecoming Queen of the Class of 1954 at Governor Mifflin High School.  Mrs. Harper a was seamstress for many years operating from her home.  She was a very active member of the Women’s Club of Kenhorst; loved crafts; was an avid traveler with her husband and also enjoyed camping but most of all was the nucleus of her family.  Mrs. Harper is survived by her children Donna L. Spayd of Sinking Spring; Scott C. Harper husband of Brenda A. Harper of Mohnton; Robin L. Bradt wife of C. Alan Bradt of Reinholds and her 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her son Richard A. Harper January 25, 2012. 

Memorial Service will be held at Bean Funeral Homes & Crematory 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring, Friday, November 17, 2023 at 11:00 am.  Nancy McNabb will officiate.  Interment will follow at Berks County Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive relatives and friends at Bean Funeral Homes & Crematory Friday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to One United Church of Christ 1730 New Holland Road, Kenhorst, PA 19607 or the American Heart Association 7272 Greenville Ave. Dallas, Texas 75231 or heart.org in memory of Mrs. Betty J.
