Betty Dutt

Betty Marie (Angstadt) Dutt, 88, of Reading, passed away on September 30, 2020 in Orwigsburg Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.  Born in Hyde Park, she was the only child of the late Harold L. and Emma Marie (Weidenhammer) Angstadt.  Betty was the wife of Harvey W. Dutt and they shared 40 years of marriage before Harvey passed on December 16, 1992.  Betty graduated from Muhlenberg High School in 1950.  After graduating, she went on to work as an Operator for Bell Telephone Co. for 12 years.  She then changed her career path after having her son to becoming a Cashier for Boscov’s North for 27 years.  Betty was a member of Alsace Lutheran Church in Reading.  Betty loved to play bingo or really anything that involved gambling.  She was also known to be a jokester and for dressing up as Baby New Year for a New Year’s Eve party.  Betty enjoyed going to her husband’s softball games and her son’s baseball and football games.  For 20 years of her life she religiously went to Ocean City, MD to enjoy the beach and seafood.  Betty was also known to be crafty and would knit and crochet afghans for her kids and grandchildren.  When she wasn’t spending time with her loving family she would get together with her friends from Bell Telephone and her graduating class.

Betty is survived by her children; Gloria J. Strouse, of Gilbertsville, Joyce M. Fusner, wife of Gerald W. Fusner Sr. of Kunkletown, and William H. Dutt, partner of Kelly Hinnershitz of Blandon.  She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, and her cousin, Nancy Gehart, who was the closest thing she had to a sister.

Funeral Service will be held in Bean Funeral Home, 1605 Rockland Street, Hampden Heights, Thursday, October 8, 2020 at 11:00 am.  Reverend Richard A. Nelson will officiate.  Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park.  The family will receive relatives and friends in Bean Funeral Home Thursday 10:00 am to 11:00 am.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Humane Society of Berks County, 1729 N. 11th St., Reading, PA 19604 or to Animal Rescue League of Berks County, 58 Kennel Rd., Birdsboro, PA 19508 in memory of Betty Dutt.
