Beryl Frederick

Beryl Jaqueline Frederick (née Kramer) passed away from natural causes on November 3 at the age of 88. Beryl was born in Reading, Pennsylvania to Harold S. Kramer and Marion L. Kramer (Martin) on October 15, 1933. She was the elder sister to Gale Beck (Kramer). Beryl’s husband of 61 years, Robert “Bob” E. Frederick, preceded her in death on January 21, 2021.

Beryl graduated from Reading High School in the class of 1951. She went on to work as a secretary, first at Carpenter Steel Company, and later for Wilson School District. It was at Carpenter that she met her husband, Bob. They were married on May 23, 1959. Together, they raised their son Brian Robert Frederick in their Sinking Springs home. Later, she became a loving grandmother to her three grandchildren, Allison, Matt, and Haley.

Beryl and Bob were founding members of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Wilshire in 1959. There, Beryl was a longtime presence in the choir. She was an excellent host of friends and family, whether for holidays, casual visits, or her bridge club. Beryl’s cooking was beloved by those who gathered around their dining room table, and her grandchildren were always excited to eat Grandma’s chocolate cake for their birthdays each year. She was also a talented seamstress, expertly crafting everything from her son’s Halloween costumes to embroideries commemorating each grandchild’s birth.

Beryl is survived by her sister Gale Beck and husband James of Petersburg, VA; her son Brian Frederick of Hanover, PA; grandchildren Allison Barycki and husband Scott of Reston, VA; Matthew Frederick of Hanover, PA; and Haley Frederick of Reston, VA.

The family will hold a private burial at Charles Evans Cemetery. A public memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 11 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s UCC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Beryl Frederick’s memory to St. Peter’s UCC, 2901 Curtis Road, Reading, PA 19609.
