Berenice Mcgavin

Berenice W. McGavin, 102, of Wyomissing, passed away Monday January 10, 2022 at 7:30 pm at the Highlands at Wyomissing Skilled Nursing Center.  She was the wife of the late Attorney Frederick G. McGavin who passed away January 15, 2009 and to whom she was married to for 67 years.  Born in West Reading, Mrs. McGavin was the daughter of the late Carl and Jeanette (Hoover) Walley.  She was formerly employed by Berks County Trust Company as a secretary and also by the Valley Forge Military Hospital during World War II as a secretary to Dr. Sheehan.  Mrs. McGavin attended McCann’s School of Business and volunteered at Community General Hospital for 19 years.   She and her husband loved to travel, attend antique auctions, vacation at their home in Ocean City, NJ; make candles, entertain with family and friends, loved to cook.  She was voted “Cook of the Week” for her blueberry pudding. Her first love was spending time with and taking care of her family.   Mrs. McGavin is survived by her daughters Karen A. McGavin who resides with Maureen S. Dolan of Alsace Township and Sandra E. Andersen of Fort Lauderdale, FL along with her grand dogs.  She was preceded in death by her brother Dr. C. Donald Walley.

There will be a private Celebration of Life Tribute Service held at Bean Funeral Home, 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring at the convenience of the family.  Amy S. Landis, Certified Celebrant will officiate.  Interment will follow at Laureldale Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Animal Rescue League of Berks County 58 Kennel Road, Birdsboro, PA 19508; Humane Society of Berks County 1729 North 11th Street, Reading, PA 19604 or Wounded Warriors Project PO Box 758516 Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516 in memory of Mrs. Berenice W.
