Benjamin Earl Brown, 87, formerly of Reading, passed away May 16, 2011 in The Reading Hospital & Medical Center. He was taken to the hospital from Country Meadows of Wyomissing where he resided since 2006 and until his recent illness. Born in Pittsburgh he was the son of the late Benjamin B. and Martha R. (Stewart) Brown. Mr. Brown was a graduate of the Univeristy of Pittsburgh with a Bachelors of Arts and Master of Letters. He was a professor of English at Albright College from 1952-1989 with a specialty in Shakespear, Milton and Classical literature. He was the recipient of the Lindback award for excellence in teaching from Albright College in June of 1978. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, a Vestry member, lay reader and chalice bearer. He was a board member of Episcopal House in Reading for more than 12 years and earned the status of Life Director. At Counrty Meadows he served on several committees and assisted at the chapel services.
