Barry J. Parney, 76, of Reading passed away unexpectedly on September 11 at the Reading Hospital. Born in Reading he was the son of the late Julian and Helen (Rochowitz) Parney. He was predeceased by his sister, Dolores, who died in 1936.
Barry was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, graduating from Reading High School and Albright College. Barry had a long career in education starting in Florida and then moving to Malvern as the headmaster at the Phelps School. He was an English teacher at Central Catholic High School then took the position of Athletic Director and Assistant Principal. He also was the scorekeeper for the boys' basketball team both at Central and Berks Catholic.
His happiest times were traveling the world and being with his Central Catholic family. He has enriched the lives of thousands of students and will be missed.
To honor his request, his arrangement for interment was private.
