Barbara M. (Kondracki) Orlando, 83, of Sinking Spring passed away on February 10, 2021 in Manatawny Manor. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Michalik) Kondracki. Barbara was the wife of the late Joseph Orlando, together they shared 60 years of marriage before his passing on May 30, 2015. She graduated Reading High School in 1955 and later opened Bob’s Sandwich Shop in Sinking Spring. She also owned a lingerie shop in Downingtown and an outgrown shop at 11th and Spring Street in Reading with her sister, Georgeann. Barbara was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church. Barbara loved her family and her dogs, Frankie and Bella. She enjoyed getting together with family and friends, and would host her legendary scrabble and card tournaments. Barbara also played bridge in the Bridge Room in Reading. She was a talented artist in all medias. Barbara enjoyed gardening especially roses, they were her favorite flower. Her family says she could have grown a stick if you asked her. Barbara was always on the move whether it was going to the beach to find seashells, getting a strawberry sundae from Friendly’s, or traveling to her homes in Delaware and Florida. While Barbara lived in Florida she was in a choir and taught painting classes. The family would like to give a special thanks to Barbara’s Caregivers who have cared for her over the years.
Barbara is survived by her children; Michael J. Orlando, husband of Kathleen of Lower Heidelberg, John D. Orlando, husband of Carolyn of Leesport, and Susan M. Hook, of Sinking Spring. Also surviving are her 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and her siblings; Dolores Snyder, of Reading, Georgeann Butler, of Rogersville, TN and, Richard George Kondracki, of Sanford, FL. Barbara is preceded in death by her sons, Joseph F. Orlando and David P. Orlando, by her grandchildren; Matthew J. Orlando, Jimmy Orlando, and Aidra Orlando and, by her twin brother, Robert Kondracki.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 237 Franklin Street, Reading, Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at 10:00 am. Reverend Monsignor Joseph A. DeSantis, Celebrant. The family will receive friends and relatives in Bean Funeral Homes, 3825 Penn Avenue, Sinking Spring Monday, February 15, 2021 from 6:00 pm to 8:00pm and February 16, 2021 from 8:30 am to 9:15 am.
