Barbara Lykens

Barbara S. Lykens, 94, formerly of West Reading, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 8:18 am in Village Commons at Phoebe Berks Village. She was the wife of the late I. Russell Lykens who passed away in 1990. Born in Reading she was the daughter of the late William A. and Emma (Kirn) Staudt. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in West Reading where she was a member of the Choir and played piano for Sunday School. Mrs. Lykens was a licensed practical nurse at Reading Hospital for 6 A½ years retiring in 1966. She was a volunteer at Reading Hospital for many years and was a member of West Reading Seniors. She loved her God, Church, family and friends and is survived by her son Jack R. Lykens, husband of Ann Lykens of Wernersville along with her grandchildren John C. Lykens, husband of Stacy Lykens of Wyalusing, PA and Julie Wert, wife of Brian Wert of Cumru Township and her great grandchildren Emily, Alicia and Olivia Lykens and Nathaniel and Joshua Wert.
Funeral Services will be held in Bean Funeral Home, 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring, Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 10:00 am. Reverend Robert G. Argot will officiate. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church 336 Franklin Street, West Reading, PA 19611 in memory of Mrs. Barbara S.
