Atulbhai D. Naik, DDS, 70, of Wyomissing, passed away Monday, January 25, 2021 at 8:29 pm in Reading Hospital. He was the husband of Nila A. Naik. Born in a small farming village in Kaccholi, Gujarat, India. Dr. Naik was the son of the late Dhirubhai V. and Surekhaben Naik. He immigrated to the US in 1975 by himself with nothing but a dream of America. He completed his dental training at the University of Pennsylvania in 1978. He was proudly commissioned as an officer in the Dental Corps of the United States Army 24th Mechanized Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, GA, achieving the rank of Captain. During his service, he realized his lifelong dream of becoming a US Citizen in 1981. He moved to Wyomissing in 1983 where he began his career serving the people of Berks County as a general dentist for 38 years until his death. Dr. Naik was the owner of Muhlenberg Dental Associates. While the first love of his life was his family, his second was to his practice. He worked tirelessly six days a week, on weekends and late into the evenings so his patients could be seen. He treated generations of patients like his own family. His patients remember him as an accessible, kind, and caring dentist. His family remembers him as a dedicated and loving father, brother, and husband. Dr. Naik loved traveling, Philadelphia sports, cricket, and dining. He brought nothing but joy into the lives of those around him with his loud laughter and gregarious nature. He was always available and generous with his time for friends and strangers alike helping many get a start in America. He died peacefully surrounded by his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Dr. Amish A. Naik, Orthopaedic Surgeon, husband of Dr. Julie Naik, Allergist & Immunologist of New York City and his daughter Dr. Sonal A. Naik, Dentist, of Flower Mound, Texas and his brother Amul D. Naik of Sinking Spring. Dr. Naik was preceded in death by his brother Anil D. Naik of Kaccholi, India.
Funeral Services will be held privately by the family. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Berks County, 58 Kennel Road, Birdsboro, PA 19508 in memory of Dr. Atulbhai D. Naik and his beloved dog Sunny.
