Arthur (Artie) B. Hollender, 77, of Womelsdorf, passed away on Saturday, August 4th, 2018 at 2:35pm in Reading Hospital. A dedicated partner and husband of 42 years to Carol L. (Weinrich), Arthur leaves a legacy of caring and generosity, regarding everyone as a friend, even strangers, who he considered friends he hadn't met yet. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Arthur was raised Jewish, frequently sharing stories of life growing up in the city with his children and grandchildren.
Arthur attending Adelphi Academy in New York followed by American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts where he studied Accounting. Arthur pursued a successful career in textile management followed by embarking on his dream of business ownership of M&P Country Convenience in Exeter, New Hampshire. Artie loved building relationships with his regular customers when they came in for coffee or a newspaper. After selling his business, he relocated to Womelsdorf to be closer to his children and grandchildren. His gift of caring for customers led him to kitchen design at Home Depot in Lebanon where he enjoyed the process of helping customers remodel their homes.
Deeply patriotic, Arthur served in the U.S. Army Reserves and frequently contributed to USO. Arthur developed a deep reverence for the Native American culture. He and Carol would frequent pow-wow's and tribal gatherings and cultivated a collection of Native American Artwork and Artifacts.
In addition to his wife Carol, Mr. Hollender is survived by his children Leonard M. Hollender, husband of Cindy Hollender of New Jersey; Lisa M. Raab, wife of Michael T. Raab of Exeter Township and John A. Cascamo, husband of Katherine E.R. Cascamo of Los Osos, California and his grandchildren Alyssa Raab; Joe Raab and Giovanni V.A. Cascamo.
Arthur had a special bond with Bill Cochran who long friendship, has been an immeasurable comfort and support to Artie and the family.
A private graveside service will be attended by immediate family, followed by internment in a family plot with his mother Miriam, father Murray and brother Max. In keeping with the Jewish tradition, the family requests no flowers be sent, rather donations be made to USO or other organizations that serve the military will be greatly appreciated.
